Community Resource Officer

Plymouth Community Safe Citizen Information

The Community Resource Officer (C.R.O.) position was created on September 10, 1998 with the aid of a Federal COPS Hiring Grant. The Community Resource Officer is responsible for identifying problems within the community, analyzing these problems to determine underlying cause, implementing responses to these problems and assessing the effectiveness of the response.  The C.R.O. acts as a resource for patrol officers and Community Service Area officers in solving neighborhood problems. In 1999 and 2000 the C.R.O. responsibilities were expanded to encompass the Crime Prevention function of the Department. In 2003, there was a re-organization of the Support Service Division and D.A.R.E. program, resulting in the Elementary T.E.A.M. program being added to the responsibility of the C.R.O. position.
